71% Cameroun by Puyricard

I bought this very unusually shaped bar in Arles, at the official Puyricard shop. The packaging is very elaborate — they clearly invested heavily in it, and, as it turned out, not just in the packaging, because the bar itself looks impressive too: it’s decorated with a map of Cameroon. This design feels like a much more refined piece of work than the Venezuela map bar we had not so long ago. Unfortunately, the bar got slightly melted on one side under the scorching Provence sun.

Fortunately, it didn’t melt too badly and retained most of its shine. I have to admit, though, that despite all their spending on the packaging, they didn’t think to wrap the bar in foil, which might be why it melted a bit.

The aroma is unusual—it smells, to me, like black tea. The taste is a bit simpler: initially slightly plastiline-like, and then giving way to a bitter-tea note, especially evident in the aftertaste. As much as it pains me, I can only give this bar three stars. It looks like a wonderful gift chocolate, but the flavor, for me, is just a three.

Цю плитку дуже нестандартної форми я купив в Арлі у фірмовому магазині Puyricard. Упаковка дуже заморочена — вклалися вони в неї добряче, і, як виявилося, не тільки в неї, бо плитка виглядає дуже ефектно — з картою Камеруну. І це виглядає як набагато більш витончена робота, ніж на плитці з мапою Венесуели, яку ми їли не так давно. На жаль, плитка трошечки підтанула з одного боку під палючим сонцем Провансу.

На щастя, підтанула вона не дуже сильно і навіть не втратила більшість свого лиску. Мушу визнати, що при всіх своїх витратах на упаковку вони не здогадалися загорнути всю плитку у фольгований папір, і, можливо, тому вона трошки підтанула.

Запах нетривіальний — пахне якимось чорним чаєм, як на мене. А от зі смаком трошки все простіше: він трішечки пластиліновий спочатку, а потім дійсно віддає таким гіркуватим чаєм, особливо вже в післясмаку. Як би мені не було шкода, але я ставлю цій плитці всього три зірки — це виглядає як чудовий подарунковий шоколад, але смак, як на мене, на трійку.
