Another bar from Solstice and another hit right in the heart. Today, we have Uganda with the familiar 70% cacao. Not a very high percentage, but Solstice doesn’t offer many other options aside from even lower cacao content. The packaging is classically fantastic - I absolutely love everything about it: the little envelopes, the attention to detail inside the packaging, and the country outline indicating the origin of the beans. It’s minimalistic, but all the essential information is there.
The aroma surprised me a bit. At first, I couldn’t quite place the mix, but I detected fresh walnuts and something from dried fruits, like dried cherries or raisins. The packaging hints at fudge, dark cherries, and something earthy. The taste wasn’t exactly nutty, but there was still a hint of walnuts, with the sourness of cherries standing out the most. Given the aroma and 70% cacao content, I expected a sweetness that might be a little harsh on the throat, like honey, but this was much more pleasant. It was sweet, but softly so - nothing too harsh or overwhelmingly sweet.
This is incredibly delicious. It’s hard to stop eating, and the bar isn’t that big, so I ended up eating four squares, which is half the bar :) I’ll have some more later, but I also need to share it with my family. I really enjoyed it, and I’m giving this bar five stars - today I’m feeling generous. Maybe on another day, I’d rate it closer to 4.7-4.8, but today it’s a solid 5, and Solstice has secured a high place in my personal pantheon of chocolate gods.
Чергова плитка від Solstice і чергове попадання в серденько. Сьогодні нам дістається Уганда та все ж ті самі 70%. Що не дуже багато, але інших варіантів Solstice не пропонує окрім звісно ж ще нижчого відсотку какао. Класично-фантастичне пакування, мені подобається рішуче все: і самі конвертики, і увага до внутрішніх стінок конвертику, і контур країни походження бобів, дуже мінімалістично, але вся потрібна інформація присутня.
Запах мене трошки так здивував, я не одразу зрозумів що це такий за мікс, але у запаху я відчув свіжі волоські горіхи і щось з сухофруктів, сухі вишні або родзинки. Як нам підказують на упаковці тут мають бути помадка (fudge), темні вишні і щось землисте. Смак виявився не те щоб горіховим, але щось від волоських горіхів все одно там є, і яскравіше за все проступають кислуваті вишні. Від такого запаху і 70% какао я, чесно кажучи, очікував такої солодкості яка трохи дере горло, накшталт медової, але це було набагато приємніше. Це солодко, але м'яко, горло не дере і нема такого відчуття що це занадто солодко.
Це дуже смачно. Важко зупинитися їсти і плиточка не така вже і велика, тож на пробу в мене пішло чотири квадратики, а це рівно половина плитки :) Спробую ще пізніше, але ще й треба поділитися з сім'єю. Мені дуже сподобалося, ставлю цій плитці п'ять зірочок - сьогодні я щедрий. Можливо в якийсь інший день це було б щось біля 4.7-4.8, але сьогодні це 5 і Solstice впевнено займає один з досить високих щаблів мого пантеону шоколадних богів.
