Recently, I ordered a small batch of Solstice chocolate - the same one we tasted in Las Vegas last summer - and among their standard set of bars, there was a limited edition Rio Claro bar from Trinidad. The packaging is different from their standard ones; instead of an envelope/sleeve, it's a box. I’m not sure if this is a new style or just for the limited edition bars, but I think the solid-colored envelopes are a much better solution than this bar's packaging.
The description promises berries, pie crust, and almonds. The aroma I found was something between nuts and caramel, a sweet nutty scent. The bar itself looks nice with these little suns, and the chocolate looks fresh, although it did break a bit.
The taste was a bit disappointing for me. Partly because it's from a limited collection and was more expensive than any other bar. The chocolate is undoubtedly well-made, but the flavor profile didn’t really appeal to me. It's so sweet that it’s almost too much, which might not be a huge flaw, but the aftertaste is strange - it suddenly shifts to a completely different, less pleasant flavor.
I probably wouldn’t pay that much for this bar again, or even a bit less. This means the bar gets three stars from me, and I really hope the standard bars will earn better reviews from me, reaffirming last year's ratings.
Нещодавно я замовив невеличку партію шоколаду Solstice- це той який ми куштували в Лас-Вегасі минулим літом і серед їх стандартного набору плиток знайшлася ще limited edition Rio Claro родом із Тринідаду. Упаковка відрізняється від їх стандартних тим що це не конвертик/рукавчик, а коробочка. Не знаю чи це новий стиль чи це стиль для лімітованих плиток тільки, але ці однотонні конверти здаються мені набагато кращим рішенням ніж упаковка цієї плитки.
Нам обіцяють ягоди, скоринку пирога та мигдаль.
У запаху я знайшов щось таке середнє між горіхами та карамеллю, щось таке солодкувато-горіхове. Сама плитка виглядає прикольно з цими сонечками і шоколад виглядає свіжим, хоча він і трошки зламався.
Смак мене трошечки розчарував. Частково тому що це плитку з лімітованої колекції і коштувала вона дорожче ніж будь-яка інша плитка. Шоколад безумовно зроблений якісно, але сам смаковий профіль мені не сильно сподобався.
Він такий солодкий що аж трошки занадто, і це може і не така вже велика вада, але от післясмак якийсь дивний: він різко переходить у зовсім інший, менш приємний смак. Скоріш за все другий раз я за цю плитку такі гроші, і навіть трошки менше, не заплатив би. Це означає що плитка отримує від мене три зірки і дуже сподіваюся що стандартні плитки отримають від мене кращі відгуки, підтверджуючи минулорічні оцінки.
