I accidentally came across this bar at a local Whole Foods Market and was intrigued by the fact that the chocolate contains no added sugar, but is instead sweetened with dates. I love dates - I often eat them on their own, with nuts, or as part of a sandwich with whole grain bread, cashew cheese, and dates (very tasty, try it!). This is probably the first chocolate in my collection that uses dates as the sweetener.
The packaging is simple and pleasant, which I like. It looks pretty good. It’s a 60g bar but costs around $10, which is definitely not cheap, but there’s a discount now and it’s more of an experiment. Inside, unfortunately, there’s plastic; the bar itself also looks nice and matches the packaging style. Overall, as a product, it looks very solid. The aroma confused me a bit - I can’t say I liked it, because for some reason it smells like cheap chocolate with vanillin, even though there’s no vanillin here. But the taste improved the situation a bit. It’s not bad - if you don’t consider the price, it could be an initial four stars. But I’ll note that the dates make the texture more like a candy than chocolate, or like what you sometimes get with coarsely ground cacao - a slight mechanical stickiness. It doesn’t make the chocolate worse, but the feeling that it’s a candy rather than chocolate is still there. And the dates aftertaste is definitely present. So, considering all this and the price, I’ll give this bar three stars. If you have a chance to try it - go for it, but I probably wouldn’t buy it often or even ever again, because $10 is $10.

Приємна проста упаковка, мені таке подобається. Виглядає досить непогано. Тут 60 г, але коштує ця плитка щось біля 10 доларів, що абсолютно не мало, але наразі знижка і це радше експеримент. Всередині, на жаль, пластик, сама плитка виглядає теж непогано і в стилі упаковки. В цілому як продукт виглядає дуже солідно. Запах трохи мене спантеличив - не можу сказати, що він мені сподобався, бо чомусь пахне якимось дешевим шоколадом з ваніліном, хоча ніякого ваніліну тут немає. Але смак трохи вирівняв ситуацію. Це непогано - якщо не враховувати ціну, то це може бути і початкова четвірка, але зауважу, що фініки дають такий ефект, що цей шоколад по консистенції нагадує більше цукерку, ніж шоколад. Або, як іноді буває з грубо помеленим какао - така трохи механічна в’язкість. Вона не робить шоколад гіршим, але відчуття, що це цукерка, а не шоколад, все-таки присутнє. Ну і присмак фініків дійсно є. Тож, враховуючи все це і ціну, я поставлю цій плитці три зірочки. Якщо маєте змогу спробувати - спробуйте, але купувати таке часто або навіть повторювати це, напевно, я не буду, бо 10 доларів це 10 доларів.
