I bought this bar on the last day of our stay in Iceland. By that time, I was a little bit disappointed in Icelandic chocolate, but the stylish Omnom package kept appearing in front of my nose all the time, so I did buy this bar for $ 14. Very expensive. But probably not that expensive according to Icelandic standards (Iceland is very expensive!)
That's how it traveled with us from Iceland to France, then Italy, Ukraine and settled in US.
This morning I decided to sort the bars by the expiration date, so as not to miss something. And as it turned out, I've already missed it. This is the most expensive bar brought from Europe and I should have bean eaten it until the end of July. That is, a month ago at least. Uh-oh, well, we'll eat it today and give it a small discount.
Packaging, as I said, looks really cool, especially this stylized head of a wolf (this is a wolf, right? :)).
Dense colored cardboard and no less stylish foil paper. The bar itself is not large - 70 grams (which makes it even more expensive, compared with the classic European 100 grams bars). Pattern on the bar is on par with the packaging. Breaking it is not very convenient, but when did it stop us? :)
The smell is not pronounced - bitter with some acidity.
My eldest son sampled it first and said that he liked it.
Then was my turn. The chocolate melted kind of reluctantly, like you would expect from a northern thing. It was also not cooperative in breaking it in pieces.
When melted, the taste was rather uncomplicated, same as smell - bitter-acid and slightly earthy. The texture was not exactly even and slightly granular.
Average pass-through grade bar (even taking into account the discount by expiration date). As it seemed to me, this bar is a good representative of Iceland (no offense to residents and fans of this glorious country) - a product of an average quality level at a very high quality price.

Сьогодні вранці я вирішив відсортувати плитки за терміном придатності, щоб не проморгати чогось. І як виявилося, я вже проморгав. Ця найдорожча плитка привезена з Європи і з'їсти її повинен був до кінця липня. Тобто місяць тому, як мінімум. Ой-йой, будемо їсти сьогодні і зробимо цій плитці невелику знижку.
Упаковка, як я вже казав, мені дуже сподобалася, особливо ця стилізована голова вовка (це ж вовк, правда?).
Щільний кольоровий картон і не менш стильний фольгований папір. Сама плитка не велика - 70 грам (що робить її ще дорожчою, порівняно з класично європейською 100-грамовою плиткою). Візерунок на плитці підходить упаковці. Ламати не дуже зручно, але коли нас це зупиняло?
Запах не виражений - гіркуватий із кислинкою.
Першим пробував син і сказав, що йому сподобалося.
Тепер моя черга. Танув шоколад по-північному неохоче. Втім, так само він і ламався.
Коли ж танув, то смак був досить нехитрим, майже як і запах гіркувато-кислуватий і трохи землістий. Текстура не зовсім рівна і трохи зерниста.
Середня прохідна трієчка (навіть з огляду на знижку за терміном придатності). Як мені здалося, ця плитка хороший представник Ісландії (не в образу мешканцям та фанатам цієї славної країни) - середнього рівня якості товар за ціною дуже якісного.
