German chocolate, imported from Poland and bought at NetCost store in Brooklyn for $3.5 or so.
The bar has standard 100 grams, but there is no bar as a such, there are 4 small bars, 25 grams each, respectively. Each of those is wrapped in gold foil. And they all lie in a dense cardboard box. It all looks good and nice.
The first bar of Merci have gone so quickly that I did not even write down my taste and smell sensations in time and forgot what I liked about the chocolate. Only solid four remained in memory. I had to buy a second one, in order to finish what had been started :)
The smell is simple, bitter, but without acidity.
There is chocolate, where the taste is complex and multilayered, and it happens that you like some "layers" of taste, don't like others. Sometimes you like all of them or most or none. It can even be difficult to understand.
And there's quite uniform tasting chocolate. And it turns out that it is immediately clear, if the taste is "yours" - you like it, if it feels "strange" to you - you don't. Merci is of the latter type, and I liked the taste, in general. Bitterish, slightly astringent, the second bar also had some of non-cocoa bean bitterness. I do not know where it came from. But I will be true to my initial assessment - 4 stars.

У плитці стандартні 100 грам, але плитки як такої немає, є 4 маленькі плиточки, по 25 грам відповідно. Кожна плиточка обгорнута золотистою фольгою. І всі вони лежать у щільній картонці. Виглядає все це добре та приємно.
Перша плитка Merci пішла так швидко, що я навіть не записав своїх смакових і аромо відчуттів вчасно і забув чим мені сподобався цей шоколад. У пам'яті залишилася тверда четвірка. Довелося купити другу, щоб завершити розпочате :)
Запах простий, гіркуватий, але без кислинки.
Є шоколад, де смак складний і багатошаровий, і буває так, що якісь "шари" смаку подобаються, якісь ні. Іноді всі подобаються або більшість або ніякі. Буває навіть складно розібратися.
А буває досить однорідний за смаком шоколад. І виходить, що відразу зрозуміло, якщо смак "ваш" – подобається, якщо "чужий" – то ні. Merci з останніх, і смак, загалом, мені сподобався. Гіркий, трохи терпкуватий, у другій плитці трохи відчувалася якась не какао-бобова гіркота. Не знаю, звідки вона там взялася. Але я буду вірний своїй початковій оцінці – 4 зірки.
