This is probably one of the most ubiquitous chocolate bars in the countryside where I dwell at the moment - the New York metropolitan area. Lindt Excellence can be purchased in almost any grocery store in New York or New Jersey for $3-5. I bought it for $2.50 at the local Shoprite. Manufacturers swear by mom in their Swiss roots and traditions, but nevertheless chocolate is made in U.S. I probably will be biased in my rating, since I has tried Lindt more than once before. But still, let's try from the scratch.
Packaging looks pretty well - carton, with maybe not the best design, but not repulsive either. There's silver foil inside. Pieces are too big (I like smaller, they are easier to break off and send in my mouth wholly). But the bar is not thick, so pieces can be broken off not at the seams. In this it is similar to the Belgian Cachet bar.
The smell is on the sharper side, with dominant cocoa acidity. There is also a bit of bitterness and vanilla. The taste is not bad at first - soft bitter-sweet taste, a little oily, but not too much. Slightly sweeter than one can expect from 70% chocolate, but within acceptable limits. Then, a strange note appears, I call it a taste of metal, although it is certainly not a metal taste :) Metal has a different taste, but these two flavors have something subtle in common. And, this flavor is enhanced in the aftertaste, spoiling the whole previous experience.
In general, it feels like three starts ★★★☆☆. It might be better (or might not :)) if not that strange "metal" taste. I also have a bar of 85% Lindt Excellence, maybe that one will not have this taste. We'll see soon.

Шматочки завеликі (я люблю поменше, щоб легко ламати і повністю відправляти до рота). Але сама плитка тонка, тож ламати шматочки можна і не по швах. У цьому він схожий на бельгійський Cachet.
Запах різкуватий домінуючою кислотою какао, ще є трохи гіркоти та ванілі. На смак спершу все непогано - м'який гірко-солодкий смак, трохи маслянистий, але не надто. Трохи солодший, ніж чекаєш від 70% шоколаду, але у допустимих межах. Потім з'являється якийсь присмак, я називаю його присмаком металу, хоча це точно не метал :) У металу смак інший, але щось невловимо загальне у цих присмаків є. Так ось, цей присмак посилюється в післясмаку, псуючи весь попередній досвід.
Загалом виходить трієчка ★★★☆☆. Могло б бути краще (а може й ні)), якби не дивний присмак "металу". У мене ще лежить 85% плитка Lindt Excellence, можливо там не буде цього присмаку. Скоро побачимо.
